Steve earned his MFA in Acting from Brandeis University in 1991, where he received a full-tuition scholarship and teaching assistantship.  He has been training/coaching actors in private and formal settings for 35 years.

As a director, Steve primarily worked in live theatre until he began collaborating with students on short films.  That led to the creation of Teen Street Films, which he has directed for 12 seasons. Steve was hired to direct LUCKY U RANCH in 2014, his first feature film, distributed by Random Media. He also directed THE SECRET LIVES OF TEACHERS, a short film that played in 25 festivals and garnered nine honors and awards, now available on IndieFlix.. Most recently, Steve directed ROOM 107 (premiering at DWF:NYC), a short film about the dangers of the trafficking industry, and 42 SECONDS, a short film about the survivors of a mass shooting and their journey toward healing.

 

As an actor, Steve has performed off-Broadway and in Regional Theatre and can be seen opposite Vicky Krieps (PHANTOM THREAD, CORSAGE) in the international feature film THE WALL, directed by Philippe Van Leeuw (IN SYRIA). THE WALL premiered at the Brussels International Film Festival in 2023, followed by a limited European theatrical run.
