STEVE ANDERSON
Steve earned his MFA in Acting from Brandeis University in 1991, where he received a full-tuition scholarship and teaching assistantship. He has been training and coaching actors in private and formal settings for 32 years.
Before transitioning to full-time teaching in the 1990s, Steve performed off-Broadway and in regional theatre, including work with Obie Award winner Ralph Lee at Central Park SummerStage and the Cathedral of St. John the Divine. He also appeared with the Huntington Theatre Company, New Repertory Theatre, and Los Angeles's Drama-Logue Award-winning Blueline Theatre Company, and served as a movement artist in the 1990 Ticker Tape Parade honoring Nelson Mandela.
Steve returned to performance in 2023 opposite Vicky Krieps (PHANTOM THREAD, CORSAGE) in Philippe Van Leeuw's (IN SYRIA) feature film THE WALL, which premiered at the Brussels International Film Festival and received a limited European theatrical release. He recently starred in the short films SILENCE OF WAVES and MEASURED IN THREAD, both currently in post-production.
As a director, Steve worked primarily in live theatre and theatre education until 2010, when he launched Teen Street Films, an actor-training and film-performance program for teens, which he directed for 12 seasons.
Steve directed his first feature film, LUCKY U RANCH, in 2014. The film is distributed by Random Media. He also directed THE SECRET LIVES OF TEACHERS, a short film that screened at 25 festivals, earned nine honors and awards, and is now available on IndieFlix. Most recently, Steve directed ROOM 107, which premiered at Dances With Films: NYC. ROOM 107 is a short film about the dangers of human trafficking and won the Sam Polito Award for Best Arizona Short Film at the 2024 Arizona International Film Festival. Prior to that, Steve directed 42 SECONDS, a short film about survivors of a mass shooting who reunite at the scene in hopes of healing from their shared trauma. 42 SECONDS won the Director's Choice Award for Best Arizona Narrative Short at the Prescott Film Festival, Best Short at the Flagstaff International Film Festival, and Best Short Drama at the Roosevelt Island Film Festival. The film will soon be available on ShortsTV.
Steve also coaches public speakers and helps clients prepare for important events, including courtroom appearances, hearings, and presentations.
